Award Criteria:
Who doesn’t like cake?
Wedding cakes are more than just dessert; they are a centerpiece of celebration. This category recognises talented cake designers who create visually stunning, delicious and beautifully crafted wedding cakes.
Judges will look for: cake makers with a difference! With evidence of creativity, craftsmanship and the ability to bring couples’ visions to life.
Please note this category requires a digital portfolio AND samples of cakes to be provided for judging. Entrants must bake and decorate their own cakes.
Entry Questions:
- Tell us about you and your business, what you do, how long you have been operating and how many weddings you have undertaken in the last 12 months.
- Describe your cake style and how you accommodate dietary requirements and flavour preferences.
- Explain your cake design process and how you collaborate with couples (this can include consultations, tastings).
- Explain how you keep up with wedding cake trends and any additional services you offer.
- What makes you different and why do you deserve to win this award this year?
In your supporting evidence, please provide us with evidence of your Food Hygiene and Safety in Catering certificates, examples of unique cake designs you have created (photographs or links), including a reference to one of your biggest challenges (explaining why), any brochures you may have and include a maximum of 6 testimonials that support your entry.
Taste Judging:
We kindly ask that all entrants supply us with 2 samples of cakes that they have baked for our judges; one should be a lemon cake and the other your own personal signature flavour. This must be provided in the form of slices, not whole cakes.
Our judges will already be aware of your cake styles and designs through your written entry and for this stage, they only require an opportunity to taste your wonderful cake!
Please note that you will not have access to the judging room, so there is no setting up required by you. Please ensure that your samples are clearly marked with your company name and any allergens. You are also most welcome to include an information sheet to tell our judges a little about the samples that you have provided.
All entrants must have been trading for a minimum of 12 months as at time of judging (October 2025) and be based in Kent
